Central Bank report: stockbrokers blind to conflicts of interest

Inspectors found firms’ logs often left blank

Stockbroking and investment firms in Ireland are not operating in a conflict of interest (COI) aware environment, the Central Bank has found.

Some firms keep “blank” logs of conflicts while “many” do not consider how “expensive gifts” could “compromise their duty to act in the client’s best interest”, the Central Bank said.
