British firms fear Brexit damage to Irish trade

Confederation of British Industry says businesses in Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland could be harmed

British businesses are worried about any Brexit restrictions on trade with Ireland, north and south, according to Britain’s biggest trade body.

Paul Drechsler, the president of the Confederation of British Industry, told The Sunday Business Post that businesses in Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland would all be harmed by any trade or customs barriers after Brexit.

“The scale of integration between Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Britain cannot be overstated.”...
