Bill could dampen whiskey tourism's high spirits

Visits to Irish whiskey distilleries grew by 80,000 last year to 733,000, according to new figures from Ibec, but advertising constraints worry industry body

And it is not just bottles that these brands are selling - distilleries are also a huge draw now. The Irish whiskey sector is in great spirits following an increase of 12 per cent in visits to distilleries last year.

Visits to Irish whiskey distilleries grew by 80,000 last year to 733,000, according to new figures from Ibec. The Ibec Spirits Report found that visitor numbers grew by 12 per cent in 2016, up from 653,000 in 2015.
