Public access to the details of the ownership of companies, trusts and other funds is likely to be granted despite intense lobbying to water down proposed new transparency rules.

A key European Parliament committee has voted to allow public access to so-called registers of beneficial ownership as part of plans to shake up anti-money laundering rules.
