Westport House in Co Mayo brings €1.7 million to the local economy

A battle is under way to try to save Westport House from a Nama auction that could see it sold to an international distressed-asset buyer.

The centuries-old historic estate and stately home in Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s home county of Mayo is set to be sold off as part of Nama’s Project Arrow loan book. Cerberus and another so-called “vulture” fund, Apollo are involved in a bidding war for Arrow.
