Liam joined Bank of Ireland Group in 2004 and has held a number of senior management positions, including Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Banking, and Divisional Finance Officer, Capital Markets Division.

One of the most senior executives at Bank of Ireland has departed unexpectedly.

The bank said that Liam McLoughlin, who is chief executive of its retail Ireland division, has decided to leave to pursue other interests.
