Gary McGann, the former boss of paper and packaging giant Smurfit Kappa, faces having to give up some of his non-executive director roles to become chairman of the under-pressure food company Aryzta.

McGann was headhunted in September to chair Aryzta, the Irish-Swiss food producer best known for its Cuisine de France brand.

His appointment was designed to smooth relationships with investors and rebuild confidence in the company.
