Gender pay gap reporting is to become a legal requirement for larger British companies, with proposed regulations due to be implemented later this year.

Announcing the changes in July 2015, British prime minister David Cameron set out his ambition to “end the gender pay gap in a generation”.

The introduction of the British legislation has highlighted the issue in this jurisdiction, but what it is the gender pay gap?
