An Post alarm as collection of TV licence fee goes out to tender

Currently there are more than 90 An Post staff employed to fulfil the contract, which has an 87 per cent compliance rate, compared with 86 per cent in 2017

The announcement of a five-year contract to collect the TV licence fee has piqued the interest of a number of commercial firms, but has caused concern in An Post.

Minister for Communications Richard Bruton confirmed on Friday that the collection of the TV licence fee will be put out to public tender later this year as part of an overhaul of the levy.
