The billionaire co-founder of Airbnb sought to meet Leo Varadkar ahead of a government crackdown on short-term lettings aimed at tackling the chronic rental market shortage.

Brian Chesky wanted to meet the Taoiseach in September “to discuss our commitment to responsible growth and fair home sharing in Ireland”, according to correspondence released under the Freedom of Information Act.
