A little goes a long way, but is it enough?

The changes announced to social welfare rates for next year that will see many people receive small increases typified the coalition government’s budget of few surprises.

But children’s minister Katherine Zappone’s new childcare package looked to be at least a step in the right direction, even if it did not meet with universal approval.
