There is a flaw in Irish wine list culture, and I have the remedy

Wine lists: there should be more of them for everybody, not just the alpha male of the table

One of my biggest concerns with wine lists is the issue of there being only one given out per table. This means the possibility of highly prejudicial, embarrassing and frequently patriarchal choices being made as to where this list is directed.

Invariably the wine list is handed to the supposed ‘alpha’, usually male, participant at the table. It’s an outrage, it is wrong, it is counter-productive and it is sexist as as the ...
