Tomás Clancy's trio of wines
Geoff Schrapel of the excellent Bethany Winery is now a Barossa icon, with his beefy G6 Shiraz (at around €20) and utterly brilliant GR12 (at €50-ish) rightly worshipped by Australian wine lovers. He also makes some fine sweet wine and, best of the lot, this unexpectedly mature Alsace-style Riesling. It has very pure fruit and a linear, crisp, citric mid-palate, but there is a fine-boned weight to the finish that is captivating.
