Game of Thrones has been a godsend for the North’s tourism industry, and a recently opened touring exhibition in Belfast – featuring costumes and props – is sure to be another hit, writes Gillian Nelis

Ian Beattie has a wide, almost incredulous smile on his face. The man who played Ser Meryn Trant in five seasons of Game of Thrones is telling a roomful of journalists from around the world how he met a couple in Belfast who decided to honeymoon in the city after watching the show. “For someone like me, who grew up here and experienced all the difficult years, to see Belfast becoming a honeymoon destination is a bit surreal,” he says.
