To a certain generation of car buyers, the Subaru name evokes memories of World Rally Championship domination with the Japanese company’s famous gold-wheeled blue Imprezas. The road-going version of that car was (and still is to some) one of the ultimate performance cars of the time. These days, the company is focusing more on its expertise in all-wheel-drive transmissions and is continuing to push its boxer engine technology in models that are more SUV-inspired.
