Average rents in the capital have hit record highs of €1,875 a month. And with the rental crisis showing no signs of abating, people are seeking alternative solutions to apartment living

Freelance film worker Denis Fitzpatrick moved out of Stoneybatter in Dublin 7 last April with his fiancée Rebecca when their lease was up. Faced with what they felt were untenable rental rates, they decided to move into a mobile home in an area of land behind his fiancée’s parents’ house.
