In an age when ten-disc box sets are compiled to showcase the most inconsequential shavings of musical artists who probably shouldn’t have been allowed to make even one album, it’s refreshing to realise that all you ever need to hear of Tom Lehrer’s music can be squeezed onto one CD. (He has this in common with Marc Bolan and T-Rex, though not much else.)
