RTE Orchestra ‘heads for Hollywood’

The RTE Concert Orchestra, under conductor John Wilson, has been building a strong brand in the musicals and movies department, now probably the strongest of any national orchestra anywhere.

Its next excursion to Hollywood takes place on June 20 with two NCH concert performances – afternoon and evening – of Lerner and Lowe’s Scottish fantasy, Brigadoon.

But this doesn’t mean the orchestra intends losing touch with the great opera world outside. This year alone, its Signature Series has delivered dazzling talents such as Danielle de Niese, while the great Bryn Terfel is also on his way on July 31.
