The Japanese giant takes the no-diesel plunge with its new CR-V, but will SUV buyers be happy to go back to petrol power, asks Liam Shard

The CR-V is arguably Honda’s most important car, much more so than even the famed Civic or the lamented Accord saloon. Depending on the market you’re looking at, the CR-V makes up as much as a quarter of all Honda’s sales, and since 2012 the Japanese carmaker claims that it has been the world’s best-selling SUV.
