We’re using our cars more and more, meaning that our national carbon footprint is growing instead of shrinking – and there will be consequences

Statisticians don’t need to tell us that there are more cars on the road today, doing more miles, than there were during the recessionary years. Traffic around Ireland’s cities is at an all-time high, and it’s a bit of a nightmare for commuters. This, sadly, is a direct corollary of an improving economy (well, that and not planning development of our road network to cope with said improvement in the nation’s finances), as there are more workers on the road going to work more of the time.
