McDonagh’s Pillowman premiere is worth long wait

This Irish premiere of Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman is long overdue. Although written during a frenetic period in the mid-1990s when the then unknown McDonagh was crafting the Leenane Trilogy, The Pillowman was not staged until 2003. After winning the Olivier award for Best New Play in London, it transferred to Broadway, where it scooped two Tony awards.
