Magazine Minute: Ethical fashion, John Boyne, favourite green spots and Spanish wine

The very best of the Sunday Business Post Magazine this weekend

TWO THIRDS FULL

This week, The Magazine meets Barcelona couple Lutz Schwenke and Loreto Gala, the husband and wife team flag bearing for an ethical fashion revolution. Their brand, Two Thirds, is one of a new crop of international-cool brands that puts sustainability at the forefront of their marketing shtick, as clued-in customers increasingly demand heart and soul from the clothes they put on their back. “We operate under very strict sustainable principles controlling the supply from the outset,” says Schwenke, as he shares the brand’s philosophy, including their manufacture-to-order approach. Their family business is a microcosm of a bigger movement, and one to familiarise yourself with now.

INTERVIEW: JOHN BOYNE

“It’s been a really rough year, to be honest,” says John Boyne, “but I think I’m just about out the worst of it.” This Sunday, Nadine O’Regan sits down with The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas author for a wide-ranging discussion on love, feminism and growing up gay in Ireland. Boyne also tells us how his own story shaped his latest novel, which charts the often painful experience of a young man growing up in Dublin.

WINE with Tomas Clancy

What to try, buy, or put by? This Sunday, resident Sunday Business Post Magazine wine and spirits expert Tomas Clancy takes you to Northern Spain, and to the Ribera del Duero, where the region’s highest altitude vineyards are to be discovered. There, he finds “a hotbed of innovation and adventure, with young winemakers are crafting expressive, elegant wines."
