Despite its great range and design, the Tesla Model 3 will face cheaper competition when it finally hits our roads, writes Dave Humphreys

Even though it is likely to be another year before it appears on our roads, the Tesla Model 3 has been one of the most talked-about electric cars in recent years. Launched as the affordable, more mainstream EV when Elon Musk first unveiled it, delays and question marks over build quality soon overshadowed the car’s ability to attract never-before-seen levels of deposits and orders - according to Tesla, at least.
