A lot of car makers trade on their heritage, hoping to align their contemporary products with those that buyers remember fondly. Much of the time, the link is tenuous. Sometimes, a new car is designed with styling cues inspired by a distant forefather, with varying degrees of success. But few, if any, deserve comparison with their illustrious predecessors more than the Porsche 911.
