Ian Walton is an industrial designer whose interest in horology was set in motion around four years ago. Now his NTN brand is one to watch, writes Elaine Prendeville

Horology: a wonderful word, and one increasingly encountered in the zeitgeist (as listeners to the S Town podcast can attest . . . ). It is dictionary-defined both as the study and measurement of time, and the art of making clocks and watches. An horologist, meanwhile, is something quite special indeed, considering how few individuals take on the crafting of timepieces in the professional sense.
