In Mort Shuman and Eric Blau’s musical revue, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, the Belgian singer-songwriter’s oeuvre is mined for its theatricality. Brel was, essentially, a storyteller, and his songs, which he often performed himself, translate singular emotional experiences into miniature dramatic narratives.
