American novelist Ng looks at the themes of family, class and race in her acclaimed new novel Little Fires Everywhere

‘It’s exciting to publish a book, but people get really excited when they hear genuine movie stars are attached to it,” laughs the American writer Celeste Ng. A few days before my conversation with her, it was announced that Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are going to produce and star in a television adaptation of her latest novel Little Fires Everywhere. “I’m thrilled because I feel they really get the heart of the book.”
