Theatre: Eclectic fare the order of the day at Galway Arts Festival

Sometimes we argue about the quality. In terms of quantity, however, Irish theatre-goers have never had it so good.

The first Galway Arts Festival in 1978 featured just one play, from a young company called Druid – but this year’s programme (now with the word ‘international’ added to its title) has 14 productions including opera, puppetry, acrobatics and shows that refuse to fit into any single category.
