Theatre: Eclectic fare the order of the day at Galway Arts Festival
Andrew Lynch picks out some of the highlights from the itinerary
Sometimes we argue about the quality. In terms of quantity, however, Irish theatre-goers have never had it so good.
The first Galway Arts Festival in 1978 featured just one play, from a young company called Druid – but this year’s programme (now with the word ‘international’ added to its title) has 14 productions including opera, puppetry, acrobatics and shows that refuse to fit into any single category.
Here is a selection of highlights from the itinerary.
