Edward Gelsthorpe was a highly decorated war hero who fought in hand-to-hand combat across the Pacific during WWII. He worked his way up from door-to-door sales for Bristol-Myers to vice-president. He introduced the roll-on deodorant among others – Colgate, Palmolive: you name a 1950s or 60s product and he was in there launching it.
