European Championship, 2017

The European Championship is taking place in Minsk, Belarus. It features a field of more than 170 grandmasters competing for a €20,000 first prize, and qualification for the 2017 World Cup. In the first round, IM Stefan Mazur bravely attacked Russian GM Maxim Matlakov, but was quickly repelled.
