Challenging the silence around abuse

Challenging the silence around abuse

Exhibition: In Plain Sight. Until 31 May, Gallery of Photography, Dublin 2,

Irish photographer Kim Haughton’s moving exhibition challenges the silence that surrounds the legacy of child abuse in Ireland.

Made in collaboration with abuse survivors, this exhibition brings together landscape and portrait photography, family snapshots and audio recordings of victims’ testimonies.

Seemingly benign landscapes depict the mundane places of any Irish childhood, and are irrevocably transformed into crime scenes and places of terror.
