How baroque music led the way for female composers

Hands up, all those who think they could name ten women composers who have made it big in the world of classical music. How about five, then? Right, but how about five that do not include the obvious contenders – Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn and Lili Boulanger, all names that have passed down through history as contributing to the development of music despite being overshadowed by male domination of the genre?
