Atwood takes her latest tale to the stage
FICTION; Hag-Seed, By Margaret Atwood, Random House, €23
Margaret Atwood’s latest novel might be a reimagining of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, but in her novelised version, Atwood doesn’t content herself with simply offering up the story of the play again for a modern audience.
Instead, she moves beyond the original narrative – the tale of sorcerer Prospero and his plotting – to create a novel where The Tempest is being put on the stage, but all is not going according to plan.
