There’s this thing they do in rousing Broadway musicals that touches me deep in my soul. My nerdy, once-played-Oliver-in-my-all-girls-school-transition-year-production-of-Oliver-and-went-to-see-Hamilton-twice-in-one-week soul. It’s when the characters sing different bits of songs and lyrics together at the same time, and make it work in a glorious cacophony of sound and wide-legged stances before finally coming together in belting unison.
