Mark Lanegan Band: Somebody’s Knocking (Heavenly Recordings)

Former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan continues his dabblings into semi-electronica on his 11th solo outing, which also finds him in fine, extra-gravelly voice. With a couple of exceptions, it’s a sombre, brooding but arty affair, rooted in early-80s underground, with its copious reverberating guitars, prominent melodic basslines and murky synth peals.
