A very British adaptation
For a film with a plot that centres on the Nazi occupation of France, Saul Dibb’s Suite Française is strangely, quintessentially British. Adapted from the novel by Irène Némirovsky and backed by BBC Films, the story of life in occupied France in the 1940s and a forbidden romance between a married woman and a German officer is very different from a “la Résistance française” narrative.
