Jimmy McAleavey comes from west Belfast and knows how it feels to have guns pointed at your face. This is presumably why his new play about ex-IRA men trying to cope in a post-Troubles society feels so authentic. Monsters, Dinosaurs, Ghosts is a compelling piece of work, undeniably crude in places, but full of provocative ideas and salty northern humour.
