Christmas songs, movies, books, TV shows – 2018saw a total reappraisal of popular culture and the negative light in which many are now cast thanks to a more woke perspective. Baby It’s Cold Outside was first under the bus in terms of the Christmas cull, challenged for perceived undertones of date rape. Then there was the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York and its use of the word ‘faggot’.
