Wacky name adorns a surprisingly serious electric hatchback

Great Wall Motor’s electric-only Ora brand is making its first steps into the European car market and, despite its Funky Cat moniker and copycat styling, the debut model from the Chinese manufacturer demands to be taken seriously

Chinese company Great Wall has tried to sell cars in Europe before, for example, the agricultural and ultimately ill-fated Steed pick-up truck, but now it’s back with something completely different. The car in question is the Funky Cat, and it’s sold under the company’s all-electric Ora brand, which is hoping to rival mainstream marques including Volkswagen and Hyundai.
