“Never waste a good crisis,” is a motto clearly endorsed by the Irish contemporary classical music collective Crash Ensemble. When Covid put live performances on hold, it commissioned local and international composers from a range of backgrounds to write new works for duos within the group.
The results can be heard on [Reactions], an aptly titled album released late last year with an accompanying film by ensemble member Laura Sheeran to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
