Have expletives lost their currency, or it it time to double down on dirty language? A columnist’s view
My grandmother was a formidable woman, with firm opinions on many things, not least the use of language. She had a rich turn of phrase and a wide armoury of vocabulary, but I never once heard her use a curse. She objected only to the use of one by others, and that was the phrase “shut up.”
