I feel overwhelmed by the menopause – will it ever end?

Dear Expert,

For the past six months, I haven’t felt remotely like myself. I believe it’s the onset of menopause, but my moods have been fluctuating. I’ve been weepy and irritable, lashing out at my husband and three sons. I’m very much against taking medication for feeling down about things (usually I’d just soldier on and get through), but I’m feeling increasingly helpless and worried. I’m aged 49. Will this pass?
