Erica Cody: ‘An album is a defining point so I want it to be something really special'

The Dublin singer/songwriter has always done things her own way, so much so that she won’t release her debut until she is satisfied

It’s a sunny Saturday when I meet Erica Cody upstairs in a bright Howth café. She grew up not far from here, in the coastal suburb of Baldoyle in Dublin, where her early dreams of becoming a musician were nurtured by her family and the wider community.

“There’s something very special about the northside,” she says warmly. “I loved growing up in Baldoyle. It’s a small place, so everyone knows each other.”
