Getting back to ‘normal’ will be strange and, for some of us, downright scary – so let’s just take it one day at a time

While I long to get out of lockdown, I’m also worried about leaving the safety of the coronavirus bubble where terrifying obligations are almost an impossibility and the internet tells us it’s okay to be tired and unproductive

It’s been a year since most of us did anything “normal”. Over a year, in fact. This time a year ago, Leo Varadkar was taoiseach and had just ordered the schools to close. We weren’t wearing masks yet, but we were washing the knuckles off ourselves and beginning the now reflexive practice of coughing into our elbows.
