There will always be hotly contested debates over whether cultural figures should be included in boycotts, but some high-profile Russian artists have been tainted by their support for Vladimir Putin
While the emphasis in the past week has been on financial and sport boycotts of the repugnant Putin regime, there has also been a less-noticed tsunami of embargoes on music and cultural events globally. They come from the Met, Covent Garden, Munich, Rotterdam and all the rest. Russian artists who have brought joy and beauty into the lives of many – not least here in Ireland – are now ensnared in a web of evil.
