The couple have kept their family business in Kilkenny afloat by adding value to their apples, with a decision to go fully organic key to its success

Apple juice, balsamic cider vinegar, cider, apple syrup, apple treacle and more: no one could accuse Rod and Julie Calder-Potts of not making the most of the fruits they produce in their orchards in Kilkenny.

But adding value to their apples is essential, according to the owners of Highbank Orchards, who say they wouldn’t still be in business if they hadn’t done so.
