Thousands of PIAB cases to be assessed under new guidelines

Thousands of insurance cases currently before the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) will be assessed under new personal injury guidelines following a landmark shift in the level of awards was agreed by judges earlier this month.

The new guidelines, which will slash personal injury awards by about 50 per cent, were adopted by the 166-member Judicial Council at the beginning of March and are due to come into effect next month.
