The porn giant MindGeek has routed €1.5 billion of profit through its Dublin subsidiary since 2015. But now it’s the target of a huge US and Canadian crackdown on illegal content hosted by its flagship site Pornhub. Could a similar investigation happen here?

In a California case, court documents allege that MindGeek, which hosts Pornhub, ‘knowingly benefited financially from thousands – if not millions – of videos posted to their various websites featuring victims who had not yet reached the age of maturity’

When she was 16, a Californian girl named Jane Doe — not her real name — was filmed without her consent by her then boyfriend. Their relationship was not a stable one, and it ended when he “pushed her out of his moving car onto the street, dragging her until she was able to free herself”, according to court documents filed in California.
