Bureau rejects waste collector’s assertion that large lodgements to credit union account came from motor compensation claims

A businessman who claimed to have received six different motor compensation payouts has been hit with a €126,000 tax bill by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

The man, whose identity has not been released, described himself as a waste collector and a second-hand car salesman.

He attributed some of the large lodgements to his credit union account to the proceeds of compensation claims from motor incidents, in his appeal against the tax bill.
