Despite Ireland's rocky economic journey in recent years, Irish consumers still like to splurge during the festive season.
Figures from the latest Deloitte Christmas spending survey revealed that Irish consumers remained Europe's biggest festive spenders. The annual survey estimated that the average Irish household would spend €894 this Christmas, some 1.7 per cent less than last year.
